Comparison between Nabucco and South Stream

Intergovernmental agreement for construction of the Nebucco gas pipeline, for supply of natural gas in Europe skirting Russia, will be signed by twelve countries on 13th of July in Ankara. But parallel with this Turkey considers the proposal from Moscow for cooperation in the competitive Russian project South Stream.

South stream, supplying natural gas from Russia to Bulgaria and from there to Italy and Austria and will be with capacity 63 billion m3 per year, should be set in operation in 2013. The amount of investments according to different evaluations will be within 8-25 billion EUR. Nabucco with capacity 31 bullion m3 per year and investment $7,9 billion envisages transportation of natural gas across Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary and Rumania to Austria.
